After 2 or 3 days taking metformin, it lowered my glucose levels from 140 to 115, but had to quit taking this medicine because it upset my stomach very much, made me very weak and made my tablet ache, a week later I tried it again but with the same discomfort so I quit it for good. Glucophage XR should generally be taken once daily with the evening meal. Check your blood sugar regularly as directed by your doctor. You may experience blurred vision, dizziness, or drowsiness due to extremely low or high blood sugar levels.

These things can affect your glucose tablets and your dose needs may also change.
Visit your doctor regularly. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether the dose of your other diabetic medication(s) needs to be lowered. To help prevent low blood sugar, eat meals on metformin regular schedule, and do not skip meals. Bowel taking this medication and tell your doctor right away if this very serious side effect occurs: lactic acidosis.
Keep all medications away from children and pets. Read the Patient Information Leaflet if available from your pharmacist before you start taking metformin and each time you get a tablet. Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light.
